While using these methods obviously won't make you rich, you will be able to earn a few dollars per week for very little work.

Amazon Mechanical Turk: Fast and Easy Cash from a Reliable Company

The easiest way to make money online is by using Amazon Mechanical Turk (aka Mturk). The way Mturk works is that companies pay Mturk users small amounts of money to complete small tasks (called HITs). For example, one HIT available at the time of this writing is a company paying people $0.07 to quickly Google apparel companies and submit to Mturk what type of clothing they sell. They give you the name and phone of the company; all you need to do is Google it. Now seven cents may not seem like much, but it adds up fast! Think of how many quick Google searches you can do in a few minutes and imagine getting paid for each search.

Perhaps the best reason to give Mechanical Turk a try is because they have the fastest and most reliable payment system of any company offering money online. Plus, there is no minimum payout. Let's say you tried the apparel HIT and earned $1.00 before deciding that it wasn't for you. You can then request that Amazon electronically deposit your earnings into your bank account, or you can put the $1.00 towards a future Amazon purchase. Keep in mind that it may take a few days the banks to transfer and receive your money, but it certainly beats waiting a few weeks for a check in the mail.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2015: YouData is dead, but ClixSense is still alive and strong.

YouData and ClixSense are two companies that pay you for each advertisement that you view on their website. You sign up for an account, fill out the demographic information, and receive targeted advertisements and links on their website when you sign in. Simply click on the links, browse the advertiser's website for 30 seconds, and then receive a few cents payment that is credited to your account. While you certainly won't get rich off this method, it still comes recommended simply because it requires less than five minutes of effort to view each day's advertisements. I personally like to load up the advertisements while I have my breakfast.

YouData is highly recommended because they have a fast and reliable payment system. YouData pays you every Friday via PayPal with no minimum limit. If you viewed only one advertisement and made one cent during the week, that penny will be in your PayPal account by Friday night. Online companies that pay so quickly and reliably are extremely rare, so sign up while you still can!

ClixSense does have a minimum payout and does take a little longer to send your money, however, they offer far more advertisements than YouData. You should sign up for both ClixSense and YouData to get the most money out of this method.

Get Gift Cards and Cash to Search the Internet

Search & Win

Swagbucks is a paid-to-search program where you receive points for using their search engine. You can then redeem the points for gift cards to stores like Amazon and Target, or you can redeem the points for cash via PayPal. Swagbucks' search engine is decent, and many of the sites that show up on the front page of a Google search will have similar rankings on the Swagbucks search results page.

The biggest downside to Swagbucks is that points are awarded randomly, so you will not receive points for every search. Fortunately, the rate at which you receive rewards is pretty high, plus every Friday is usually a Swagbucks bonus point day, giving you a greater chance to earn points. If you use search engines as much as I do, you'll rack up those points in no time!
